Creative asset for Cheltenham’s Christmas campaign 2020

Christmas update

With Christmas just around the corner, we’ve been busy creating a comprehensive gift guide to support Cheltenham’s businesses and help residents and visitors find the perfect gift this Christmas. We’ve created four gift guides, an independent shopping guide,a hotel stay and spa guide, an events and experiences guide and a food and drink guide. Hopefully you’ve also spotted content filling our social media channels! Alongside our own channels we’ve also been running a Google Display Network campaign and radio adverts across Heart Gloucestershire and Greatest Hits, all promoting Cheltenham as a shopping destination this Christmas.

You may remember from the last update that we created a dedicated Facebook group, Love Cheltenham – supporting small businesses, for members to use to promote their businesses direct to a customer base, however, due to a lack of business engagement we’ll take this down shortly.

A quick reminder, if you’d like to be included in any of the gift guides or if you have any suggestions of content ideas please get in touch. And remember that if you have any events coming up, including virtual ones, make sure you’re included in our events guide by adding your event here

Maybe* – free social media training and support

In our last update we mentioned our new partnership with Maybe* who are providing free training webinars every Wednesday to help businesses raise their online profile. For more information and to book on to these informative sessions click here. The Maybe* platforms are also full of great content on how businesses can improve their social media channels, including case studies, for example this one about The Find. You can find other great case studies on the Maybe* blog here.

Discover England Fund

As part of our continued work on the Discover England Fund project, Uncover the Cotswolds, a recent travel trade newsletter has been sent out highlighting Cheltenham as the perfect place to stay due to the incredible selection of accommodation and an array of food and drink spots. In the new year we will also be creating new content to sit on our Visit Cheltenham website, linking with Visit England’s Escape the Everyday campaign and Uncover the Cotswolds. Keep an eye out for our call for content next week for an opportunity to be part of this campaign which will run from January to March.

Digital stats

Unsurprisingly the lockdown in November saw another increase in online visits to our takeaway guide and walking guides (showing that the colder weather hasn’t put people off getting outdoors). We’ve also seen really positive engagement with our Christmas hub page which includes plenty of information on gift guides, events, food and drink and how to visit safely this Christmas.
