In a bid to drive visitor numbers, and support visitor and resident spend, Marketing Cheltenham embarked on a programme of promotion for shopping, Christmas events, the light switch on and much more. The programme was multi-platform, incorporating everything from social media to broadcast advertising, competitions to email marketing, all used to attract and encourage visitors.
As a result:
- Visitor numbers to visitcheltenham.com were up 21% comparing December 2017 to December 2016. It was also a site record for December, and the best ever Festive performance since the website launched. The most viewed pages featured shopping activities, with information on the local markets being the most popular consistently.
- Footfall figures within the town centre were up for Q4 when compared to Q3 and were also up on figures for the same period in 2016. We are just awaiting independent verification of exact footfall numbers, which will be added to this page in due course.
