January 2018…

It’s only the first month of 2018, and already the year is off to a fantastic start, with a hectic schedule of activities designed to promote Cheltenham as a top destination. Here’s everything we got up to in January…

January 2018 activities:

  • hosted journalist Kerry from LandLove Magazine for a three-day press trip. The Magazine has more than 50,000 subscribed readers and Kerry engaged with more than 20 local businesses. You can check out the results of that here…
  • grown the marketingcheltenham.co.uk website to include more information on membership, FAQs, what we’ve achieved already in less than two months and much more
  • worked with 17 journalists this month to provide information on Cheltenham, answer questions, provide images and the like
  • designed a press trip for a Sunday Times journalist, to be taken in February and feature Cheltenham as part of The Festival guide
  • supplied information to support an upcoming feature in Period Living Magazine, and helped to organise a self-exploration itinerary for the journalist’s press trip too. We recommended lots of local businesses, sights and places to visit, and the journalist found some of her own favourite haunts too. See the results here…
  • progressed with the programming for the new visitcheltenham.com website; most of the pages now have content and we’ll be calling for member and local content very soon. We’re due to launch early-February, so keep your eyes peeled!
  • engaged with members and local businesses, and compiled a list of all things Valentines, which has also been submitted to VisitBritain for use in their Valentines promotions
  • submitted a tender for Cheltenham to be the host for a major tourism summit in 2019, which if successful, will bring hundreds of tour operators, organisers and journalists to the town. The winning bid will be announced in March. Wish us luck!
  • supported Cheltenham BID with the launch of the Light Up Cheltenham initiative which will see some of Cheltenham’s most iconic buildings lit up at night
  • agreed a new partnership with Cheltenham Chamber of Commerce, to the benefit of the members of both organisations, which will see us combining efforts on some work, and maximising resource for others
  • progressed a potential partnership with the Cheltenham Hospitality Association, having an excellent meeting with their knowledgeable and passionate team. This will see the two organisations work together for the benefit of the town
  • progressed the potential for a satellite Tourist Information Centre, to be hosted at one of the major local transport hubs – more on this soon
  • undertaken a revamp of one of the Town’s most iconic, historic products, which is set to relaunch in February – best guesses for what this is please? All to be revealed soon
  • presented Marketing Cheltenham to The George Business Networking Group, outlining our plans and aspirations. So many of the attendees pledged their support for what we are doing, and many have volunteered to get involved, beyond just the visitor economy to the town and its residents too
  • welcomed our first members on board officially, including Cheltenham Racecourse, Ellenborough Park, The Queen’s Hotel, The Lucky Onion Group (131 The Promenade, No.38 The Park and The Tavern), Cotswold Grange Hotel, Hatherley Manor Hotel, Brewerism, Cotswold Farm Park and The Cheltenham Trust.
