As the new Manager of Marketing Cheltenham, I’d just like to take this opportunity to say hello to all of our members and partners across Cheltenham and beyond. I’m looking forward to meeting as many of you as possible over the coming weeks and, I hope, working with you to put a new spring in the step of Cheltenham as a place to visit and invest.
Having worked in similar roles in Bath, Lincoln, the North West of England and most recently the Isles of Scilly, I’m well aware of just how much potential Cheltenham has – and incredibly excited by the prospect of helping to build its brand and establish the town as one of the most vibrant and distinctive destinations in the country.
I look forward to meeting many of you soon.
|Thanks and farewell to Kelly|
As many of our members will be aware, Kelly Ballard finished in her role at Marketing Cheltenham on 18th July. Over the past two years, Kelly has been instrumental in driving forward a new vision and ambition for Cheltenham’s visitor economy, including the creation of Marketing Cheltenham as the new delivery body to take this forward.
I’m sure everyone will join us in saying a huge thank you to Kelly for her hard work and dedication – and in wishing her good luck in her next project (after a well-deserved summer off!)
The Festival Town
You all should have received our asset pack for The Festival Town rebrand. This rebrand is the start of an incredibly exciting time for Cheltenham, giving the town a distinctive brand which will be engaged with by national and international visitors. We need to grow our visitor economy and this is the first step towards that. We need you to help us and the asset pack is a great start for us to work together to drive visits. We’ve been busy getting everything up and running for the rebrand; we’ve updated the Tourist Information Points around the town, we’ve got Festival Town lamppost banners up in key areas and have rebranded all our digital channels.
We’ve also started working with members interested in sponsoring lamppost banners. If you’re interested in this, do get in touch (firstname.lastname@example.org). We’ve already had a number booked up so let us know soon if you’re interested in taking any space.
We’ve got our summer guide round up online and the August events so do check out our Visit Cheltenham website.
Continuing on our digital channel growth we’ve seen 44,055 unique views in June compared to 39,039 in May and an impressive increase compared to 22,163 in June last year. Social media followers are also on the up with 7,700 followers on Twitter, 5,903 followers on Facebook and 3,150 on Instagram. All growth compared to May 2019.
Don’t forget, members are eligible to join our private Facebook group where we share news and opportunities as soon as they become available. Members and non-members are encouraged to add their events for free to the What’s On guide here.
Cheltenham Festival of Cycling – 1st September.
The event has now been launched and the team are working hard to spread the word. We are excited to be working with British Cycling again as part of Cheltenham Festival of Cycling and are having initial conversations around how this partnership could continue in the future. Christmas in Cheltenham
Planning permission has been submitted for an Ice Rink and work continues on developing the Christmas offering. Watch this space for further updates and opportunities for our members.
