Local marketing agency secures funding for Cotswold Tourism

Cheltenham based marketing agency apt marketing & pr is responsible for writing a funding bid which secured £250,000 worth of funding for Cotswold Tourism from VisitEngland’s Discover England Fund.

Beating over 30 applicants, Cotswold Tourism will use the fund to finance Uncover the Cotswolds; a project that aims to promote the Cotswolds as a year-round tourist destination. The scheme will make it easier for overseas travellers to visit the area by creating itineraries and ‘off the shelf’ tourism products and experiences that operators can custom-fit to their clients’ needs and budget.

Angie Petkovic, director at apt marketing & pr says, “I am incredibly proud of our team who pulled together to write the bid.  This is the fifth successful bid that we have written for various clients in the last 18 months, securing over £400,000 and a proven 100% success rate.  Our passion and knowledge of the area, allowed us to write this bid, which ticked the criteria for the VisitEngland team.”

Uncover the Cotswolds brings together the local area including Cheltenham, Forest of Dean and Gloucester, and will showcase the incredible experiences available throughout the year to encourage more off-peak visits and alleviate the pressure at peak times.

Sally Graff, project leader at Cotswold Tourism said, “I am delighted that we have secured this funding and I would like to thank everyone involved in our successful bid. We look forward to working with smaller businesses across the area and showcasing the wonderful experiences available to visitors throughout the year.”

The UK Government’s £40 million Discover England Fund is administered by VisitEngland with an aim of offering world-class English tourism products to the right customers at the right time. The Fund is a central government funded programme of activity, supported by match funding by partners in the public and private sectors.
